So what do you think of my new blog layout huh? I am pretty much in love with it which has got me supa dupa excited for this colder part of the year. The part where I hibernate, read blogs and eat my body weight in biscuits. But for now I want to fill your mind with my new travel post.

I said this year I wanted adventure and boy have I smashed it. I didn’t go on a Summer holiday last year and bottled out of Berlin for New Year ( I know, I should have gone). This summer has totally ran away with itself and I have loved every single minute of it. It sort of feels like a distant memory. But a flaming good one at that.

Florence was a dream. A city lovers blooming dream. I like all the Tea Ladies to all try take some of their holidays over summer and travel their butts off and I wanted to maximise my two weeks off by adventuring the shiz out of life.

I was back on UK soil for a good 12 hours before my travel bud had twisted my arm to book a little trip in the form of a weekend break to Croatia the very next day. A country I have not visited but has been right up there on my to do list for quite some time. So before I knew it, it was a done deal. One night in my own bed and boom, it was back down to Leeds Bradford Airport to get my travel bug a bugging.

Within a chilled 2 hours the eve before our departure we had booked flights, accomodation, excursions hunted, travel insurance covered, airport parking paid and ready to be displayed and changed our currency to Kona. We were packed and ready to shoot our way up, up and away out of the UK to some 32 degree heat.

Destination – Pula, Croatia.

Day 1 – As soon as we landed we headed out to explore, grab a beer and watch the sunset. We wanted to get a feel for where we were. Pula is a Marina town, we didn’t know too much about this place as it was a last minute trip and this girl had to pack a suitcase and basically catapult onto that flight.

The airport is quite small and only 10 minutes away from Pula itself so we were laughing. We ventured to a beach that was quite hidden. A proper little gem. The perfect spot to watch the first sunset of the trip. As a boat went past and made waves I had a heart attack thinking we were going to drown in a little cove and showed my idiotic colours to my new travel bud.

We wandered back and stumbled across a restaurant with a roof top terrace so we decided to try some Croatian cuisine in the form of Cevapcici, which, is basically mini sausages in a pitta bread. I am easily pleased. We tried the Kajmack on the side which was recommended, it is a Serbian cheese & milk concoction. I wasn’t quite sold on it to be fair but I tried it and quickly washed it down with a huge beer. We headed back up to our accommodation and enjoyed the warm evening while sprawled out on deck chairs before it was time to lay our sleepy northern heads down.

Day 2 – We had all the plans to travel up to visit Premantura National Park but we read the bus timetable wrong. We needed a Plan B so we settled for a look around Pula’s Arena which is a small version of Rome’s Colosseum. When I went to visit Rome last year it absolutely poured down so this was the next best thing and I was really wowed by it. A liquid lunch because, erm, I’m on my holiday’s! You can do that right? We decided to head off on a mission to hunt down Pula’s little bay’s and take a dip in the crystal clear sea.

The bays here along the Istrian coastline are about 15 minutes apart by foot. There are cute bars, food shacks and plenty of shade which makes for the perfect excuse stop off and chill the devil out while taking in some breath taking views.

We had fun checking out the Pula Instagram Stories and my adventure ass kicking friend was on a mission to find some rocks that he wanted to throw himself off and into the clear waters below. We managed to track down Gortanova Uvula Beach and got to work jumping into the waters below.

Day 3 – “Let’s hire bikes!” She said!

OMFG! The pain of cycling for hours on end when you haven’t rode a bike for a million years was not something I had factored in, so great decision Carli. My butt cheeks hurt in every single place possible but for around £10 per day it was well worth taking in the country with the wind blowing through my sweaty, sweaty, hair. We headed back to the furthest bay in the Verudela Beach Resort as we had SUP Paddle Boarding with Metta Float all booked in for the eve ahead for the Sunset Tour. We blitzed though the neighbourhood and onto the coast knowing that all those easy ass hills we were flying down that we would have a right adventure attempting to bike back up them in the dark.

Day 4 – We had all the grand ideas to go on a boat trip for the day. They even have trips to scoot over to Venice!! The trips that were a whole day long were all booked up. If you are wanting to snag yourself one of those you are best booking in advance so you don’t get disappointed. We decided to hit up one of the National Parks in Croatia instead. Brijuni National Park was top notch. Off we popped on a boat that took us along the coastline of Pula. We learnt about why most of this strip of land was completely derelict which was due to the military occupying this area for years. We got to eat the most delish fish lunch before we were booted off and ready to explore this cute island. So many photo opportunities let me tell you.

We swigged down a Croatian beverage called Mis Mas that is all the rage. I think I will stick to my bottles of Blue WKD’s to be fair. As this Fanta and Red Wine (or White Wine) mix was like raiding your parents drink cupboard and necking it down in one. We were back on the boat after a few hours exploring for our last eve of Long Islands Iced Teas and planning our next trip away.

A 7.30am wake up call and a ten minute transfer and we were heading back home before we knew it. Croatia was a pleasant pleasant trip and I will definitely be back.

Where shall I travel to next my Tea Bee’s? Where too?

Love Carli x
